The Redblacks take on the Runners at Mosaic
Away from TD Place for the second time this season, the Ottawa REDBLACKS are looking for what is sure to be a hard-fought road victory against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, in a showdown at 9:30 p.m. ET at Mosaic Stadium.
Ottawa came awfully close to its first win of the campaign last week, losing 34-31 to the BC Lions. The REDBLACKS saw a pair of sliding touchdowns by Caleb Evans, as well as rushing majors by William Powell and Jeremiah Masoli, but couldn’t quite get the win.
The Riders were in action on Saturday, improving their record to 3-1 with a 41-20 chokehold from the Montreal Alouettes. Cody Fajardo threw for 224 yards and threw for two touchdowns to Kian Schaffer-Baker and Mitchell Picton, respectively. Fajardo and Jamal Morrow scored on the ground.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
Jaelon Acklin, receiver, on the week-to-week improvement of the REDBLACKS offense: “Our goal was to score touchdowns in the last game, and we did. We just have to put together a full game and we will succeed.
Randall Evans, defensive back, on staying positive in difficult times: “It’s a long season, we’re only at the beginning, things will change. We are confident. Every week we come in thinking we’re going to be 1-0 that week. This is our goal.
Mike Phair, defensive line coach, on the mentality he tries to convey to his players: “‘You go into battle, and everyone has to work together, everyone has a job to do.’
