Moore County Transportation Services provides transportation services by prior reservation.
Services for the elderly, people with disabilities, individuals, the general public and human service agencies are provided county-wide.
Limited services outside the country are provided for specialist care (eg travel to a specialist medical provider in the Triangle region).
Drivers are trained in CPR and first aid, defensive driving and other areas of safety.

The objective of the Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) is to assist Moore County Transportation Services (hereafter MCTS) in achieving their stated goal of providing safe and efficient transportation to the citizens of Moore County and promote community support and participation in the MCTS department. . TAB functions include:

  • Make recommendations to the Moore County Council of Commissioners regarding the MCTS system;
  • Oversee the transportation of clients of human service oriented agencies located in Moore County in order to fulfill county fiduciary responsibilities to citizens in the most efficient ways;
  • Provide advice and support to the Director of MCTS on policy, planning and development of operational procedures and practices consistent with program policies.

Members of the Transportation Advisory Board are appointed by the Moore County Board of Commissioners.

Call the MCTS Administrative Office, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at (910) 947-3389.

All reservations must be scheduled at least two working days before the appointment. Monday reservations must be called on Thursday. MCTS does not accept same day transport requests.

Please be ready with your name (or the name of the person you are planning for); the pick-up address; phone number; the date of the appointment; the name, address and telephone number of the destination; and the time of the appointment.

The Dispatcher will then inform you that your reservation with MCTS has been scheduled.

Also be aware that you must be ready for pickup as early as an hour and a half before your meeting time (excluding trips out of the county).

Cancellations must be received by MCTS Shipping by 12:30 p.m. on the business day prior to scheduled pickup to avoid a no-show charge. Cancellation messages must be delivered to the dispatcher during normal business hours or a message must be left on the answering machine outside of business hours.

  • Seat belts must be worn at all times by ALL PASSENGERS.
  • Children under 8 years of age and / or weighing less than 80 pounds should be transported in an appropriate child safety seat.
  • Child safety seats must be provided by the parent / guardian.
  • Children 12 and under can only travel when accompanied by an adult guardian or other authorized adult.
  • Passengers are not allowed to get out of the vehicle anywhere other than their intended destination.
  • All MCTS vehicles are tobacco free. Smoking, chewing or using other tobacco products is prohibited.
  • Eating or drinking in vehicles is prohibited, except for medical reasons.

  • MCTS provides curb-to-curb service to passengers.
  • Drivers only help passengers get on and off vehicles.
  • Passengers who require assistance to and from the vehicle should make arrangements with someone to assist them beyond boarding and exiting the vehicle.
  • MCTS does not provide aids and does not provide door-to-door service.

Good judgment will be used to limit or cancel scheduled trips when unsafe road conditions are present to ensure the safety of all passengers and drivers.
